How We Look After Your Information

This policy explains what information Elite Kids collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. We have written it in plain English so you do not need a lawyer to understand it.

Last updated: April 2026

The Short Version

We collect the minimum information needed to run our website, deliver the workbooks you buy and reply to your emails. We do not sell your data. We use a small number of trusted services (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, our payment processor, our digital download platform and our hosting provider) to operate. You have full rights to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you. To exercise any right, email elitekids@mindbe-education.com.

1. Who We Are

Elite Kids is an English language learning brand. We design and sell printable English workbooks for kindergarten, primary and secondary students, and run training programmes for the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival and one-to-one writing.

For the purposes of data protection law, Elite Kids is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. References to "we", "us" and "our" mean Elite Kids.

You can contact us at any time:

2. What Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to run the website, sell our workbooks and respond when you contact us. There are three sources of information.

Information you give us

When you buy a workbook, contact us, register for one of our programmes or reply to an email, you give us information directly. Depending on what you do, this includes your name, email address, billing address, payment details (handled by our payment processor, not stored by us), child's year group and any details you choose to share in your message.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and our service providers receive information about your device and how you use the site. This includes your IP address, approximate location (city or region only), browser type, operating system, the pages you view, the links you click and the time and date of your visit. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies described in section 5.

Information from third parties

If you click a Facebook or Google ad to reach our site, we may receive limited information about which advert brought you. We do not buy or import contact lists.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for a small number of purposes. Each one has a clear legal basis under the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and, where applicable, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

5. Cookies and Tracking

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. We use cookies for three reasons.

Essential cookies

Needed for the site to work properly. These hold your shopping cart, remember security settings and let pages load correctly. The site does not function without them.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages parents find useful, where visitors come from and how the site performs. The data is aggregated and does not directly identify you. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Marketing cookies

We use the Meta Pixel to measure how Facebook and Instagram adverts perform. If you visit our site after seeing one of our adverts, the pixel reports that back to Meta. You can manage your advertising preferences in your Facebook ad settings.

How to refuse cookies

Most browsers let you refuse all cookies, accept only essential ones, or notify you when a cookie is requested. Check the help section of your browser. If you refuse cookies you can still browse the site but some features (such as the cart) may not work.

If you are visiting from the EU, the UK or another region that requires opt-in consent for non-essential cookies, you will see a consent banner before any analytics or marketing cookies are set.

6. International Data Transfers

Elite Kids is based in Hong Kong but our service providers are located in Canada, the United States, Ireland and the European Union. This means your personal information may be transferred outside the country where you live.

Where personal data of EU or UK residents is transferred outside the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on safeguards approved under GDPR, including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent measures, to protect that data.

Where personal data of mainland China residents is transferred outside mainland China, we follow the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) and the relevant guidance issued by the Cyberspace Administration of China.

7. How Long We Keep Your Information

We do not keep personal information longer than we need to.

  • Order records: kept for seven years to meet Hong Kong tax and accounting requirements.
  • Email enquiries: kept for up to two years after our last reply, then deleted.
  • Marketing list: kept until you unsubscribe, after which your details are removed within 30 days.
  • Programme participants (Speech Festival, One-to-One Writing): kept for the duration of the programme and one year afterwards.
  • Analytics data: aggregated, with personally identifying elements removed after 14 months in line with Google Analytics defaults.

8. How We Keep It Safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Payments are processed by trusted providers (Stripe and PayPal through E-junkie) who are PCI DSS compliant, which means card details never touch our systems. Access to customer information is limited to people who need it to do their job.

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach affects your personal information and is likely to result in risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware, in line with GDPR and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) guidance in Hong Kong.

9. Marketing Emails

We send marketing emails only to people who have asked to hear from us. If you opt in, you will receive occasional updates about new workbooks, special offers and Speech Festival news.

Every marketing email includes a clear unsubscribe link. You can also email us at any time and ask to be removed.

10. Children's Privacy

Elite Kids creates English learning materials for children, but our website is designed for parents, teachers and school administrators to use when buying or enquiring about those materials. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

If you are under 18, please do not submit personal information through this website without your parent or guardian's involvement. If you believe a child has provided information to us without parental consent, please email elitekids@mindbe-education.com and we will delete it.

We comply with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for users under 13, the GDPR provisions on children's data for users under 16 in the EU and UK, and the relevant Hong Kong PCPD guidance on collecting children's information.

11. Your Rights

You have rights over the personal information we hold about you. The exact rights depend on where you live.

If you live in Hong Kong (PDPO)

Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have the right to ask whether we hold any personal data about you, request a copy, request correction of any inaccurate data, and ask us to stop using your data for direct marketing.

If you live in the EU, UK or EEA (GDPR)

Under GDPR you have the additional rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data (the "right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances.
  • Restrict how we process your data while a question is being resolved.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including direct marketing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format and ask us to send it to another provider.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent was the legal basis for processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office. In the EU it is your national data protection authority.

If you live in California (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data, and to non-discriminatory treatment when you exercise these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in the meaning of the CPRA.

How to use your rights

To exercise any right, email elitekids@mindbe-education.com with the subject line "Privacy request". Tell us which right you want to use and include enough information for us to find your records (such as the email address you used to buy a workbook). We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for normal requests.

12. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a meaningful change we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page and, for significant changes, post a notice on the website. We encourage you to review this page from time to time so you know how we look after your information.

If you have any question about this policy, the data we hold about you, or how to exercise your rights, please get in touch.
